Dance Naked were formed in late 1986 by Adventures in Reality label boss and Stress co-founder Alan Rider and Garden of Delight’s Kleo Kay, Roger Foyster and Cary Meadows after both bands split. Combining elements of each act, Dance Naked fused powerful rhythms with synths and occult influenced lyrics to produce a distinctive and unique sound that has been compared favourably to a combination of early Bauhaus, Virgin Prunes, Sex Gang Children and Dead Can Dance.
Following a period of gigging around the UK and writing material they recorded and released two albums, ‘The Hidden God‘ and ‘Colour Dance’, on the Adventures In Reality Recordings label on cassette in 1986 and early 1987. Both were also released in the US on the Audiofile and Harsh Reality labels respectively, as well as on license in Holland and Italy. They appeared on a large number of compilations worldwide and were featured in numerous fanzines and magazines internationally, gathering radio play in Europe and the States. Following a further period of touring around the UK, they split in 1990.
Interest in the band continued to build over the intervening years and they steadily gained a cult following. As a result, summer 2014 saw a retrospective LP and CD set 'Point of Change' issued on Berlin label Aufnahme + Wiedergabe, featuring re-mastered tracks from the impossible to get hold of first two albums, coupled with previously unreleased studio demos and live tracks. Packaged in a lavish vinyl and CD gatefold LP format, ‘Point of Change’ represents the definitive Dance Naked statement. Limited to 300 copies.
